Great little Chinese restaurant in a remarkable building ! Felt cosy ,relaxed and homely .Loved the ambience and old interior along with relaxing Chinese music in the background . Staff was very kind, friendly and caring . Felt like a family :) Service - can't complain ,appropriate waiting time ,warm dishes served just before food and traditional fresh prawn crackers for a start . Food- piping hot ,fresh, authentic and very delicious ! Drinks - well priced ,served with ice ,in a good range of choice . Will definitely return =) ☆☆☆☆☆

We have been coming to York on holiday for years and have always fancied trying this restaurant BUT,for some reason something always seemed to crop up and we never got....Until recently.I can honestly say we were 100%NOT DISAPPOINTED.The food was Amazing and service was great. My only reason for not giving 5⭐️was the place is a little tired and in desperate need of a good lick of paint, especially in the toilets and maybe a new carpet wouldn'tgo a miss. That said we really enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely be back next time we are in the area

The lunch deal is a great price with quality food and exceptionally fast service from ordering to being served! The chicken and sweet corn soup is a real treat The style is simple, no nonsense - in the sense you won't have a long chat with your server, but it's to the point and the restaurant is keen and ready to serve hungry customers. If you don't like long waits this is the place for you ❤️ The food was good quality and tasty for a lunchtime meal while the interior has a cosy feel to it

My wife and I used to be here 20 years ago (Jan 2004). At that time, the food was really great. We even took a picture of their menu (small pink leaflet) and wish we would come back again. After 20 years (Aug 2023), we are so happy to see that this restaurant still open even after COVID. This time, we bring our 2 kids. Unfortunately, the food quality has dropped drastically. But the restaurant decorations are still the same. Our kids do not enjoy the food here and so are we. It's kinda disappointed. ☹️

Honestly, it's a real shame, the food is actually quite good, but the service and quality of different things is just terrible, none of the soft drinks are refrigerated, which means you'll be served a relatively cold drink, which isn't exactly pleasant, especially when you are paying a premium price. There was a hair on my plate, which I would usually disregard, but at this point there were more bad things than good, so I wouldn't be surprised if this were a common occurrence, the presentation is also just poor, my prawn crackers came out in a colander, which is fine but isn't exactly great presentation, I mean don't they have a small bowel to spare? Essentially, if you are getting a bite to eat and fancy Chinese, and you are just on your own, sure give it a try, but when the atmosphere is like that of a doctor's surgery, colanders are used as serving dishes, drinks aren't cold and hair comes with your meal, I wouldn't take out anyone on a date, or celebrate any special occasion. People wonder why independent places close down, but so many places have service like this, they can't match larger companies prices, and when they could stand out by offering a terrific service, they just don't, if it were in good hands, this building could be an absolute delight, great location, cosy but spacious, it could be very good, but no, it's just bad. (In the picture below, I have eaten some of the prawn crackers, it came out full, so the portion size is not accurate to the picture)
