It isn’t often I give 5 star but this place deserves it! Before you even get chance to walk in the place, staff are already greeting you and asking how we were. The staff were friendly throughout the whole service and were very welcoming/accommodating as I had a young baby. The food was amazing! There is a large selection so there will definitely be something for everyone! On this occasion, we went for one of the set menus which is great value for what you get. The portions were perfect sizes and there was not a long wait time. If I lived in/near York, this place would definitely be a regular stop for me!
One of the best place for Dim Sum 🥟 and Authentic Chinese cuisines in North East and Yorkshire region … They have plenty of seatings and not too packed on the weekdays but make sure you booked ahead on the weekends … Their toilets 🚽 facilities are really clean and also has disabled and baby changed room … You can collect points with their app and can get good offers and exchange for items … Chinese cuisines and Menu are generally quite authentic … Our favourites are their roasted duck and pork belly and fried hao fan and their bao … They have plenty of parking space and it’s free to park and the environment seemed quite safe … The only thing to take note is they close on every Wednesday …
Ordered for the first time today from Maxis, the s+p chips, crispy beef were good however for the price I paid… I’m quite disappointed with the taste and quality, found a piece of metal (guessing from a scourer) in my chow mein and didn’t get any flavour from it. Not sure I’ll be going back anytime soon.
I have lived in York for almost 24 years and this evening was the first time I visited Maxis Chinese Restaurant. It did not disappoint. Everything from the food, atmosphere in the restaurant, the attentiveness of the staff was amazing. I have to say it was the best Chinese food I have had in a very, very long time. The price for the food was very reasonable too. We will definitely be coming back very soon to try more delicious food. Update 02/01/26: My wife and I have been several times since my first review above. Each time the service and food seems to get better and better. We have said it is the best Chinese Restaurant in York. Our last visit we had fantastic service from Louis, who was very attentive and gave us a great dining experience and thanks also to Helen who is also very friendly every time we visit!
Dim sums are reasonably priced compared to the Chinese restaurant in south England. Generally the taste is good and value for money. One of the dishes impressed me most is the fried turnip cake with xo sauce. Highly recommended
