Amidst the smart shops in this corner of historic York is the atmospheric (allegedly haunted) Grade II* building, which is home to Mr P’s, established by Andrew Pern. Andrew, (the P in Mr P), is the Executive Chef/Director, Chef/Owner of the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome, Executive Chef/Director, The Star Inn the City, York and The Star Inn The Harbour, Whitby. Opened in 2016, Mr P’s at 71 Low Petergate re-defines the modern Hostelry with imaginatively created dishes cooked by Michelin-trained Chefs, often drawing on Pub Grub traditions. Call in for liquid refreshment and tasty snacks, or come and stay a while over a meal or book ahead for the full experience with our ’Taste of Mr P’s' Tasting Menu.

Our Upstairs Dining Rooms also provide a great space for private parties and events, such as wine tastings, with special menus by arrangement. Look out for our in-house events programme featuring Mr P at Mr P’s Dinners!

Our Bar Staff are on tap to help you choose from our range of craft ales, whilst the ladies who lunch (or gents, for that matter!) are more than catered for - fizz by the glass or something from our extensive selection of gins, just the tonic to kick on for a long lunch after some retail therapy! Tables are first and foremost reserved for diners, but you are welcome to call in for just a drink (with or without nibbles) at quieter times.
