One of my favourite restaurants in York. We have been coming since the grand opening and keep returning with friends. The food is delicious, served quickly, and the staff are very friendly, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The décor is beautiful and really adds to the experience. Highly recommended.

We had a great lunch at Pranzo Italian in York. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the customer service was truly on point—friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. We shared the Fritto Misto as a starter; though the portion was on the smaller side, it was wonderfully fresh, crispy and full of flavour. I specially enjoyed the fried courgette stripes. My son had the Ragù di Manzo, with freshly made mafalde pasta and a rich, slow-cooked beef shin ragù—absolutely amazing. I went for the Branzino (pan‑fried sea bass), which was beautifully crispy and fresh, though slightly over‑seasoned with sea salt flakes for my taste. I’ll definitely give it another try on another day.

We visited Pranzo at their York branch on a Wednesday afternoon in September. We arrived just after 3pm and during our visit we were the only diners in at that time. It did mean the service was very quick! The restaurant had come recommended from a family member and because of that they had gifted me a voucher to use for the venue as a birthday gift. We had a choice of tables so opted for one towards the back which gave me a good view of the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and explained a bit about the Italian history of the restaurant and the fact they make things fresh and in house. They took a drinks order and the food order where we opted for two mains. The food seemed reasonably priced and pretty much in line with other Italian restaurants that you could chose to dine at. I believe what sets Pranzo apart is that they pride themselves on making things fresh. My husband had the Bistecca 6oz flat iron steak with skin on fries and a rocket salad and I opted for a pasta dish which was Ravioli al' aragosta a homemade lobster ravioli with a creamy sauce. Portion sizes were perhaps on the small side. The food was tasty but was still feeling hungry after eating, probably should have accompanied things with a side dish to make the meal more filling. Because of still feeling hungry opted for a dessert and went for the Profiterole gigante which was a giant profiterole with pistachio ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was quite a big serving and a nice way to finish the meal. The service throughout was good and only a small amount of waiting time while they sorted out the payment for the bill using the voucher. I had a good experience at Pranzo, slightly disappointed when it comes to portion size so will know for another time to perhaps order more side dishes. Would recommend if you’re in York and would like a nice Italian for lunch or evening meal.

Our first visit to Pranzo York and definitely won't be our last. We visited as a family of four for Sunday dinner and we were not disappointed. Proper Yorkshire puds, perfectly cooked beef and the tastiest gravy. The desserts were to die for! The restaurant is beautiful - even the toilets are pretty - and the staff were all lovely and friendly. The wait times were perfect, the food was fresh hot and delicious and we can't recommend it enough.

My friend and I were in a working trip to York and we were walking around when we spotted this restaurant and based on the online reviews, we gave it a try. The best decision that we could have made. The food was delicious and as Italian, I could taste the quality of the ingredients but also how much love was put into the dishes, from the handmade focaccia to the handmade pasta. Now, let me tell you, I work as GM in a very busy chain, the restaurant was completely packed, on a Tuesday night and the team was even short staffed, however Magic Mike greeted us with a very warm smile, even without a reservation and Carlo made our evening incredible. Highly recommended.
