It's winter and dark by 5pm so we decided to have an early dinner before heading back to our hotel even though we were not very hungry. We passed by this restaurant last night and the size and decoration gave an expensive vibe so we crossed to the other simpler looking restaurant. Today we came in and we found the prices cheaper, the selection more and the food better. I've been drinking sweet corn soup in all the three Chinese restaurants I had been to and this is the cheapest at £5 and the best with every spoonful filled with corn kernel. The salt and pepper tofu starter was a big portion and I'm happy as a vegetarian. My husband likes the spicy won tan. (抄手)。Do visit if you crave Chinese soup in York.

We came here during a half-day trip to York, and this restaurant truly left an amazing impression on us! The music was lovely (vintage Chinese songs), and the atmosphere was calm and comfortable—even though the place was quite full, the tables were well spaced out so we could enjoy our own conversations with a sense of privacy. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, which really made me feel the beauty of Chinese hospitality. Every dish we tried was delicious, especially the classic Mao Xue Wang—it tasted exactly like it does in China, and the portions were generous too! Trust me, if you’re visiting York, having a meal here will make your experience of this city even better.

Great service and atmosphere, I walked in to ask to takeaway and the staff was very helpful, I was given the menu and sat in the waiting sofa area. The food was packaged so well, zero chance of spilling and insulated. I had the salt and pepper baby octopus, that was very yummy, would’ve been better with dipping sauce to change up the flavour and neutralise greasiness that comes with fried food. The Ox’s heart, ox’s tongue, ox’s tripe, ox blood stew tasted very nice too, I liked the blood cubes especially. A bit disappointing that they added spams in though, guess to fill it up. A lot of the what seems to be ox’s heart had this weird yellow and green taint to them, I’m a bit suspicious to what they are and felt sick eating it.

5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ We had a wonderful evening at this Chinese restaurant in York. We loved the elegant, cozy atmosphere and the great background music. The food was excellent – the Mao Xue Wang and Stir-fried Rice Noodles were authentic and perfectly cooked. The service was also very friendly and attentive. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in York, and I highly recommend it!

I am from Singapore . This is very authentic Chinese restaurant with a diverse menu including vegan options. Food is very tasty and service is excellent. They even provide complimentary tea. I came here alone for lunch and ordered the MLXG (Mala Xiangguo) which was super delicious and reasonably priced. Food portion was generous. I came back with my husband for dinner on the same day and we had beef noodle soup (non spicy) and the fried banana dessert . Huge portion with delicious soup, tender beef cubes and crunchy greens. I highly recommend this place. For vegan, you must try the food here too, the menu looks interesting and food is very tasty and reasonably priced. Will visit again if I come back to York one day.
