Tried to find sushi in York and came across this restaurant near the Museum Gardens in July 2025. When we arrived, the place was completely empty, which made us a little uneasy, as it was around 1pm, which should have been the busiest in the middle of York city centre. The waiting staff also wasn’t very welcoming. My little one ordered two tuna sushi, one tuna maki, and two salmon roe sushi, while I had a chicken ramen. As shown in the picture, the sushi looked just ok and didn’t seem particularly fresh, and the ramen wasn’t great either. Given that we paid nearly £36 for this small meal, with almost nonexistent customer service and a surprisingly cold atmosphere, it wasn’t shocking that only one other table of two patrons was present when we left.

I've now eaten here twice and both times the food was delicious. Its a small venue but every dish is prepared fresh (as you'd expect) and the quality of the salmon for example was amazing. It was a tiny bit cold inside at the start of lunch service but had warmed up once there were more people inside. A steady flow of customers shows how popular it is and I'm looking forward to going back. Our waitress was lovely and friendly.

Our first experience of Sushi. Lots of combinations to choose from with photos which helped. Service was quick and efficient. Would recommend.

This is such a beautiful place in the centre of York which offers a wide range of dishes. Every time I have been in, it’s been an amazing experience and I have been made to feel very welcomed. The food is delicious, as are the drinks. Our waitress is also lovely, and charismatic. This restaurant should be so much bigger! It’s an amazing little place and the decor is beautiful :)
