Incredible food and the service is next to nothing perfection all of the staff are very very friendly and accommodating. Can't really say anything else. Oh and the cocktails are beautiful. It is very expensive just for one I spent over £130 however, this is expected and I wouldn't pay a penny less
The food CANNOT be faulted. Very much on the expensive side, but the food was sensational. The waiters were extremely friendly, however the service was slow. We were one of only 5 tables being served. We waited 40 minutes between the starter and main. We asked for ketchup and it had been forgotten so had to ask again. We then waited around 30 minutes for our plates to be cleared, and we got our desert menus before our plates were cleared. With the price of the food, you do expect a 10/10 service which we did not receive unfortunately. We would still go again, but I would suggest the service needs to be looked into.
We dined on a thu evening at The Rise for my parents wedding anniversary. We were greated by a card from the restaurant to my parents which was a lovely touch. For starters we had the cheese souffle. This was delicious however it said with walnuts but we didn't see any. For mains two of us had the lamb shanks, my husband had the fish and chips and my mum had the fish pie. Portion sizes were on the smaller side but more than adequate for us, the fish pie was larger and mum said every mouthful was packed with seafood. All were absolutely beautiful. Delicious well done chef! We only had two desserts, the pavlova and the chocolate mouse. Both were very tasty and each with its own twist on things. Food is on the more expensive side, but you pay for what you get and it's definitely worth it. Drinks are very expensive, nothing special but absolutely OK. Service fabulous the staff never stop working hard to ensure you are well cared for, very attentive. We were served by Jack mainly but all staff were fabulous. We have had two afternoon teas here which were also delicious and wonderful. The whole hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.
We had a dinner at the Rise restaurant. It was a real delight. Food was exquisite and delicious, atmosphere was great and service was fantastic. We ordered a couple of starters, a famous beef Wellington for two and desserts. Everything was absolutely delicious. Beef Wellington was melting in the mouth. Much better than what I tried at a Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant. Our server Vera was attentive and hospitable. She recommended us wine pairing and explained the dishes and made us feel very welcome, indeed. We had a lovely dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Rise Restaurant in York, and I can honestly say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely amazing—every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the preparation and the sourcing of ingredients. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcomed without being overbearing. It’s clear they take pride in creating a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re visiting York or live locally, The Rise is definitely a spot I’d highly recommend. A perfect combination of great food, lovely ambiance, and top-notch service.
