Had the seven course Christmas tasting menu. Good value for money nothing fantastic. Food is presented well and service is good. For £49 pp you can’t complain. Staff are very attentive and a nice atmosphere.
We had both our wedding ceremony and reception at YMR and it was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding. The food, drinks, service - and, of course, the setting - were all first class. We had use of the private dining room and lounge all day, for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception and it was such a beautiful space. From the first time we met Jade, the Event Coordinator, we knew we were in safe hands: every idea and ask we had was met with professionalism and calm. Jade, Marcus and the team at York Minster Refectory went the extra mile to help make the day go smoothly and bring our vision to reality - thank you all! If you are considering YMR for an intimate and special wedding venue, look no further; we’d thoroughly recommend it.
Absolutely fabulous place for food. We book at lunchtime and had the tasting menu which was superb. The food was brilliant and the wines exceptional. They were able to cater very easily for coeliacs which was very good indeed. It was quite quiet but that suited us as we could chat easily. The decorations are beautiful and the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them and each course and wine was fully explained with passion.
Fantastic restaurant and food experience in a beautiful setting, if you want a special experience dining out in York, you would be pushed to find a better place than this. The food is exceptional (we had the testing menu at £49 for 7 courses), the staff were attentive, helpful and really friendly and the view out over the towering York minster is worth the money on its own. Not the cheapest but you get more than you pay for and as a special treat it's a great evening out. Highly recommend and would go soon before too many people "discover" it!...
Headed to YMR for a celebration/thank you breakfast with my mum and it was absolutely wonderful! Very reasonably priced, considering nearby restaurants are a few pounds more for the same sort of plate, I was really impressed with the quality of the food - the bacon and scrambled eggs were delicious! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and a view of the Minster too. Would definitely recommend for breakfast!
