St John Takeaway

Updated review as I visited in person. I've been passed this place multiple times on the bus and always thought from the outside it didn't look like much and I'm very rarely in this area to begin with. When I was in York Hospital back at the end of may my mum brought me in a takeaway Pepperoni Pizza (I always get Pepperoni) I tried it and wow that lit up my tastebuds like no tomorrow I could hardly eat due to my condition while I didn't manage all of it because I was so tired I always remembered how good it was and I said to her that's probably the best Kebab shop pizza I've had. She brought me another one a few days later (The day before I got discharged) and the same thing although I finished it this time I asked her where is this pizza from? She said St Johns I thought I would get you something to eat from there as I walked past to visit you and hospital food isn't great. 4 months after coming out of hospital I recently went to pick up a bike as I was the area and went past St Johns... Alright let's try it and see if it wasn't just my unwell body trucking me into it been that good and here's where it's not just the food that scores the 5 star review but the service. We had issues with the contactless card machine and he was on the phone to somebody at this time but made sure I wasn't charged twice and when he saw the order come up he made the order... And once again the pizza was literally GORGEOUS. Never have I ever experienced something like this just wonderful. A lot of Kebab shops are average ok or straight up terrible. This place is something special.

I study at the St John's Uni, its right across the road, always good food and relatively convenient for me.

First time ordering from this takeaway after our usual gave us food poisoning and I am very impressed! Pizza base was slightly undercooked but still tasty, good portion of cheesy chips which were very nice and the tomato garlic bread was delicious too! Food came in good time and was still hot. Will definitely order from here again :)

It was my first time ordering from here tonight. I’ve tried plenty of local pizza places, and never found one that I love, as much as the one I used to order from, which unfortunately won’t deliver since I moved house 2 years ago. Anyway, all I can say is that I’m so happy I tried St John’s. It was absolutely delicious and the pizza sauce is so tasty. It tasted super fresh and the food was piping hot when it arrived. I will most certainly be ordering from here again.

Freshly prepared, very tasty, and good priced. My favourite takeaway in York. Always satisfied with their food. First class service. Five stars!!!
