The Old York Tea Room

Absolutely love this place! One of the best tea rooms in York and can’t recommend it enough. Food and drinks are 5⭐️ quality and the cakes are delicious. We will definitely visit again. The staff are lovely. Ever so polite and give excellent customer service. My partner couldn’t finish some of her cake so they also kindly boxed it up for us! The aesthetics are beautifully decorated. Such a nice environment in one of the oldest over hanging buildings in England. They are well worth the visit!

Had wanted to visit for ages and managed to come to York when the tearoom was open.( we normally come in on Mondays when it’s closed ) Soo lucky to be able to get a table too. Such a lovely warm welcome. Had coffee and cakes and OMG the cakes were amazing and huge! Beautifully presented too. A lady on the next table said that as it was a Thursday there are no calories in cakes haha. The tearoom is tiny but absolutely stunning and Full of character and charm. All decorated in Christmas decorations which were beautiful and a beautful chandelier hung down near the stairs. Looking around the room you can imagine what it must have been like living there in the 1300s. We will definitely be back for more delicious cakes and will take some home next time too.

What an amazing lovely little hidden gem. We are regulars to York but have never had the privilege of going here for our lunch and drinks and to finish up a lovely dessert each. I came here with my girlfriend and son and we can all say we loved it. The 35 minute wait outside to get in was well worth it. The owners Tony and Tomas were super friendly and helpful and gave us a run down of all the cakes in the fantastic window display and inside. We had a tuna melt, toast and jam and a double cheese pannini. 3 drinks and 3 gorgeous desserts. The best black forest gateau, a brownie with a chocoltae bourbon buried on top and snickers gateau. All were fantastic and with a surprise small sweety spider to eat as it was near Halloween. The decor inside was also beautiful with beautiful wallpaper chairs and accessories such as cute tea cups and cutlery. The next time we visit York we will definitely come here and bring more family members. Thankyou for having us.

Absolutely stunning tea room with the most amazing friendly hosts! Worth the wait in the queue 100%. My partners sandwich was huge and tasty and my home made warmed scone with lashings of cream and jam. The cakes in the display window were absolutely massive and attracted loads of customers. I wish I could go every day!

This is the 2nd time I've been here and once again, I'm blown away and impressed! All 3 staff members are incredibly polite and always smiling (even when they're rushed off their feet bless them!). I have very high standards and I'm known to be picky with food but this place ticks all the boxes for me. The photos show how well presented the food was, not thing out of place. The food was the highest quality possible and the decor was just as amazing as the food. Such a relaxing and calming atmosphere. Definitely going back here, especially because of their amazing choice of cakes! Their recent award was much deserved. 😊 Recommended to anyone who appreciates high quality food, presentation, atmosphere and customer service.
