About Carlisle Street Car Park
Carlisle Street Car Park offers a convenient and accessible parking solution for visitors to York, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With a commendable Google rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars from 65 reviews, it's a popular choice for those seeking value and practicality.
Positioned just a short walk from some of York's most cherished attractions, this car park is particularly ideal for those planning a visit to the National Railway Museum, which is only a few minutes away on foot. Reviewers consistently highlight its excellent proximity to the museum, making it a stress-free option for families and enthusiasts alike.
Beyond the museum, the car park provides a practical base for exploring the historic heart of York. While a pleasant 10 to 15-minute stroll will take you directly to the city centre, the slightly out-of-centre location often translates into a more economical parking experience compared to more central alternatives. Its affordability, combined with constant availability, makes Carlisle Street Car Park a smart choice for tourists looking to enjoy York without the worry of expensive or time-limited parking.

Annoying - unless you have preloaded the payment app or have a lot of pound coins (2025 - really - coins? - no contactless payment facility). Cheap for York, and lots of space when we arrived, probably because it’s so difficult to pay. Had weak signal on phone, couldn’t get app, so tried to pay by phone - followed the verbal commands / response questions “state registration” etc, got quite a way through the process then I was dumped back to start of process. Then verbal command then advised to enter info by text…….. Gave up at this point and left the car park.
just about a 10 to 15 min walk from town center of york but its quite a lot cheaper than anywhere else, just past the railway museum, so if thats open you can catch the road train to the center but its only about a 5 min ride anyway. Not very big, the day we went wasnt many cars in it so had no problem parking.
I used this car park when visiting The National RaIlway Museum as it is only a few minutes walk away. 3 hours cost me just £2.50 as apposed to £10 for the museum car park, where you still had to walk some distance. Arrived at 11.30am Wednesday to find lots of spaces, though the park is small. I used the Ring Go parking app to pay on arrival, with no problems.
A cheap carpark near to York centre. We parked here overnight and it was by far the cheapest in the area. It's a very tight carpark, with not much space, but if you get a spot it's worth it! It's about a 20 minute walk to the centre of York from here.
Descent prices, tight parking spaces, good for the Railway Museum and York city centre.
