Castle Car Park, located right in the heart of York, is just a short stroll from some of the city’s top attractions including the magnificent York Minster. It’s a bit cramped with some potholes here and there, and while some might say it's on the pricier side, the location truly makes up for it. So close to the best visiting spots you can dream of, I had no regrets leaving my car there — absolutely worth it for the convenience alone.
Ok so it's got to be one of the most impressive situated car parks of all time however what a rip off! I've never seen such small spaces, consequently leading to half the cars getting fines on top of paying exorbitant prices when they can't get their modern massive cars into them! I thought Brighton was expensive but it's got nothing on this place. £10.60 for 2 hours on Saturday! Wow! Avoid if you can.
AVOID-AVOID-AVOID This car park is a disgrace. It is literally falling apart. Bays are hard to make out as it so worn out and broken up. Very tight to get around. Broken payment machines. Lots of people seemed to have penalty stickers as they have probably struggled to park within the poorly marked bays or work out the dodgy machines. Extremely overpriced! Where does all the income go? Sure as hell not on maintaining the service to a suitable and SAFE standard.
Feel.like a sad sack writing a review on car park. Plus points great location. Negatives, - small spaces, can be an issue getting oit if not reversed in and in anything bigger than a Citroen C1 and the avenues are so narrow. The ground is essentially a swimming pool with huge puddles everywhere. Obviously the owners (think its the council) can't control the weather but if you are charging Q Park prices invest in levelling it off at least.
Convenient place, just around the corner from the heart of York. Toilets are available, but you have to pay 40 pence. Prices are expectedly high — £5.30 per hour. You can probably find cheaper parking elsewhere, but if you’re visiting for an event, this car park is ideal. The surface could be better for this price though — lots of puddles and mud.
