Great little car park near the river. Has lots of spaces usually, and payment is very straightforward. Your registration plate is scanned when you enter, so all you need to do is park up, go about your day, then pay when you return, and then leave. No tickets needed. They also have an app that probably makes it even simpler, but I opted to use the touch screen machine to pay.
Expensive car park but quite close to city centre and the park … It’s monitored by parking eyes so only pay when you are about to leave … Reasonably safe as there are a few CCTV cameras around but the spaces are a bit tight for big SUV …
A great amount of spaces good for the train station, which is just across a bridge. Also a short walk through the museum gardens to York city centre. Free disabled parking round outside the main car park. The only down side is the price of the car park. It is really expensive to park in York and a cheaper option would be to get the park and ride from Rawcliffe Bar.
Convenient and plentiful parking, not too far from the city centre, but at a price! The payment system is hit and miss - you can pay by phone but cannot always connect or pay by card at one of two payment stations. On my first visit both payment machines were not working but luckily I paid by phone. On my most recent visit 'pay by phone' was not connecting and one payment machine was jammed but fortunately the other one was working. Hopefully it isn't a common problem at this car park and I was just unlucky on my visits.
After joining queue after queue for carparking for over 90 mins we decided to try this and well, we virtually got straight in! Prices are high but on a par with every other carpark here. You can use an app to pay or there is a machine on site. Paying by the app incurs a small charge. You pay when you are ready to leave.
