Will park here again. To address concerns in previous review, I drive a Toyota Land Cruiser and my SUV fit fine. The clearance of this parking facility is 6'6". The tight turns were no problem for me at all. I was able to navigate the facility without any issues. If your car's turning radius is not tight, I can see how in some places you will have to make some minor turning corrections, but overall not difficult for skilled drivers and I wouldn't avoid this parking facility just because of that. Paying was easy. It is NCP app, or just take a ticket and pay at a machine on your way out. I paid 11 pounds for 3 hours. Finding the entrance was not as hard as others said and the "no public parking" sign seems to have been removed. This is public parking. You're fine to park here. It's well lit and the location can't be beat. Seven minute walk to York Station.
This parking facility, located at Convenience Place, is poorly designed, overpriced, and frustrating to use. Here are the major issues I experienced: 1. Tight Entry Design: The entry is too narrow for larger vehicles like SUVs or sedans, with no signage indicating size restrictions. The placement of the ticket machine by the entry barrier increases the risk of scratching or damaging the car on curbs or metal bars. It’s clear that the design was not well-thought-out. 2. Misleading Signage: The parking signs near the street by the entrance are confusing and misleading. They suggest that the parking is not open to the public, causing multiple drivers (myself included) to turn away unnecessarily. Only upon reversing and driving back did I spot the small public parking sign. 3. App Payment Issues: The barcode for app payment didn’t work when I was leaving the parking, forcing me to pay by card instead. To add insult to injury, there was an extra £5 charge for this payment method, which feels exploitative. In summary, this parking facility is poorly managed and designed, leading to unnecessary stress and extra costs for users. I would not recommend it unless significant improvements are made.
Once again greed has defeated good design. The car park is so incredibly tight and if you have a big car good luck getting round all the corners without scraping your paint or wheels. There is no need for it to be as tight as us is, the only reason is because of a desire to fit in as many spaces as possible. It's stupid! The price is just okay however the car park is very damp and doesn't smell pleasant. Feels safe, most of York does.
Terrible! If you own a small car great, if not and you need to go here sell your car and buy a small one. Nor suited for a large or SUV style vehicle, for either access, moving within the car park or the parking spaces as they are tight.
Great location, very pricey payment by card only. Very small turn and tight corners if you have to park on the upper floor. If you park more than 4 hours you will be charged for 24 hours. App payment is cheaper.
