York Medical Group at 32 Clifton

I have to say that the service I personally received today was nothing short of 1st class and extremely professional. They couldn't have done anything more to make me feel comfortable and at ease. Thank you Dr Andrew Field and his assistant. Once again very grateful for the service that the NHS provide.

I have been with this practice for nearly 20 years and I am sorry to say that it has definitely not improved since it became part of York Medical Group, making me feel more like just a number than ever. Never any issues with the doctors but it is often very difficult to get through to reception staff. I am surprised that reception is not open all day for a relatively large practice. Its a real nuisance not being able to phone between certain hours. When I get round to it I will be transferring to another practice.

A good experience with the doctors I've seen but practice BADLY let down with the difficulty getting through on the phone to make an appointment. I've purposefully avoided ringing first thing on a morning when there would no doubt be a surge in calls, but even later in the day receptionists won't pick up - the phone will just ring and ring... It's so frustrating and time-consuming. I moved to this surgery from another practice because it's more local, but now beginning to wish I hadn't when the basics don't work. Not a great service.

Relatively new to the practice so limited experience. My experience with the doctors, nurses and reception staff in person has been positive. However the booking/telephone system is appalling. Simply getting to see someone or get questions answered on the phone is horrendous. The woman on the phone today was like a robot. I asked the same question at least 3 times. I had to get annoyed for her to actually answer my question and stop her continually repeating the same thing which didn’t even acknowledge what I said. I wasted half an hour of my time achieving nothing and will have to call back later. Today is not the only time I have been far from impressed when ringing the surgery. I have lived at various places so have experience of several different practices. This is by far the worse. All others have actually been really good. Never experienced anything like it. The poor medical and front of house staff are being seriously let down and unfortunately will probably be on the receiving end of patients frustrations. Made worse by the fact people ringing in are not going to be the most patient due to being ill etc. I have rung my old practice to try return there but unfortunately I now live too far away. It seems due to my postcode I am stuck with them unless I go private. Please sort out your system and support your patients and staff better.

I've recently moved to York and have just joined this practice. I've no experience of the GP's as yet however the reception staff have been very helpful and efficient and I've had no problem getting through to someone on the phone. They have swiftly sorted out a repeat prescription - all good!
