Visited for the art tour around the building, which I can highly recommend. Hiscox has lots of great art in the offices from Henry Moore to David Hockney. The tours are in aid of AndysManClub, a free group for men and mental health. The knowledgeable talk through the artworks was hugely interesting and very informed. The art tour lasts about 90 minutes. You also get to see the huge Russian rocket in the hall that you can see from outside. It has been out into space. Loads of history around this site too. You get to go up on the roof for some great views of York and they also have their bee hives on the top of the building. The building was designed and constructed by the same group as the Gherkin in London. Highly recommend this enlightening tour, more so as it is for such a worthwhile cause.
Wonderful building. Will cause some strong feelings with York inhabitants because of its unique design. Very environmentally thoughtful. Even have their own apiary on the roof, to support the Bee decimation. The artwork in the building rivals most gallery's. Hiscox appoint staff to act as curators for the artwork, which can be viewed by members of the public if you book. And yes the attached photo does show a rocket from the Russian space program, that has been to space. Not a bad talking point over coffee.
Stunning building, beautifully designed and decorated. Stunning offices
One of the most stunning buildings I have seen with high wheel chair accessibility.
I love this building, as a member of the Hiscox Business Club, I feel very privileged to have access to this space in business hours. Thank you Hiscox and all the lovely staff for supporting me and my business
