Really weird behaviour. First they came around to check our house. They arrived late, and only after I texted to check where they were. (Did they forget?) The plumber who came told us they would give us a quote within 48 hours. That was 7 weeks ago, never heard back. Tried emailing but they answered without actually giving the quote, then ghosted me. Bizarre!

I had an intractable heating system problem in a large old house, which led to years of boiler failure/ problems. When replacement became inevitable, I looked for quotes. Rather than just sell me a new boiler, YPH identified the underlying issue, and proposed a low-cost partial redesign of the system. End result is that the new boiler has dramatically higher efficiency, transforming the house. Good team, highly professional. Not 'cheap', but transparent costing, good value, delivered on budget.

We've used YPH numerous times now and cannot fault them. Always friendly, professional and punctual. Despite the poorly positioned new boiler cupboard, Chris managed to adapt it so he could still complete the service rather than leave it. Would highly recommend them.

The repair job itself was simple and resolved quickly. My complaint is with the billing procedure which was an uncomfortable experience. The technician demanded payment of £96 on the spot and would not agree to invoice our landlord who had contracted the service. As tenants, we had not received any quotes, had no prior knowledge which company was contracted, and ultimately we are not liable for the fee. I understand the technician just wanted to get paid and wasn't concerned about who made the payment. But I'm also certain that there are various legal implications around this that could result in problems. As a company you should invoice the party that contracts you rather than charging on the spot whoever happens to let you inside.
