Went here with a parcel for my nephew's first birthday, he lives far away and I wasn't able to be there on the day so I got him something special to send. Sent it next day delivery on the Wednesday so it would definitely be there Saturday. The chap manning the post office desk told me DHL was the only option for my parcel, not what I had thought when checking online but didn't think anything of it. Once he had gone through the forms on his screen and it was time to hand it over he said something along the lines of "you're the recipient right? I always get these muddled up". Basically he had entered my address round the corner in York as the person to send it to so glad I double checked. This seems like a pretty crucial word for a person working at a post office to understand. I ended up basically having to help him put in the details. Fast forward two days and it has not been received. I go back to the shop and the parcel is still there just on the floor sort of half way into the shop area. Explanation given was the DHL guy didn't come but on calling DHL they said this was nonsense. Asked for a refund and took the parcel to another post office. The guy there said they had upsold me DHL and my parcel could be sent much cheaper with royal mail, which I did. Suffice to say I will never be using this place for post again and would not advise anyone else to.
Listed as open on post office and walked in to a smirky staff member saying it’s shut. And the time before, the system was down. So I’m not going here any more and putting an official complaint in to Royal Mail/post office so they know what the staff are doing here. Because it’s supposed to be open but they’re saying it’s not.
I have tried to use the post office here quite a few times recently but I haven’t been able to post anything as it’s been shut, I’d guess about 6 times I’ve had to go somewhere else. I also went to collect a parcel (twice as the first time it was shut) only to be told they couldn’t find it so it can’t have been delivered despite Royal Mail tracking that told me otherwise. You can’t say it’s a post office when it isn’t open for the stated hours.
The Post office usually opens at 0900at this place...but there was an issue with the system or something yesterday. THE POST OFFICE IT'S OPEN TODAY 🥳
Don’t advertise being open 7am-10pm when you’re not. Can’t predict when the post office will be open
