Mango is an award-winning Indian vegetarian restaurant, based in the heart of Wetherby. We deliver fresh home-cooked food with little modern twists from our kitchen, cooked by our head-chef and proprietor Rekha Sonigra.
Our ethos is simply, ‘we’ll serve to you what we would eat at home.’ All of our dishes have been tried and tested in the Sonigra household for generations and with over 20 people in the family, that’s no mean feat!
The Sonigra family originate from the west Indian state of Gujarat, where over 50% of the general public practise vegetarianism as part of the predominant religion of Hinduism. This way of life has been instilled in this region for centuries, Gujarati food has evolved and adapted to create dishes revolving around seasonal, local produce and complimentary spicing; a technique observed in Mango. Every dish served is a unique recipe, complete in its own right and homage to whichever lentil or vegetable is within it.
With a passion for food and a love to please people, Rekha and her family decided it was time to introduce homemade Gujarati food to the Yorkshire public. After years of successful outdoor catering and a lot of persuasion, Mango emerged, a company centred around family and Hindu values. We strive to ensure a peaceful, friendly and tasty retreat to all our customers. All our produce is fresh and seasonal to ensure full flavour and locality where possible. Every dish served is also made fresh to order to ensure a true experience of India.
The Mango experience is truly distinctive; our food is made with lots of love, our staff are friendly and our customers are served in a vibrant atmosphere. Walk into the restaurant and enjoy modern, creative surroundings whilst you wine and dine, just leave the washing up to us.

It’s a long time since I’ve been into Mango so today was a good opportunity to have a look around. It was surprisingly quiet in the store even though it was a Bank Holiday and York was very busy. There’s quite a good selection of ladies wear and I thought the prices were reasonable. I really liked the selection of bags. The changing rooms were large and roomy. The shop has a split level ground floor which would make access difficult for anyone with mobility issues/ in a wheelchair/ with a pram. If there was an easy access route it wasn’t obvious.
Nice selection of Autumnal fashions staff very friendly and obliging. The store was clean and tidy well merchandised.
I had a great experience in Mango York last night. Falling through their door 2 minutes before they were due to close freezing cold in search of a black cardigan. I explained to the lady I first met and she made radio contact with another member of staff. The hunt was on. Staff found me several options and one which was perfect. I bought something that I really liked picked by staff and that warmed me up. Thank you for your kindness and patience especially when you were due to close!
I was trying to pick a bag colour and a lovely member of staff, Debbie was really friendly and helped me decide which bag to get. She was really chatty and friendly and gave great customer service.
My boyfriend managed to spill his drink on me on the train on my beautiful baby blue dress on the way for the races! I ran into mango obviously distressed trying to find a new dress in a rush. Obviously i was distressed but the staff were not bothered. I tried a dress on and asked if I could get the tag taken off so I could get off quick and pay at the till. But they said I had to change and pay for it first then go change again. To me this is not putting the customer first and the staff were rude! I needed help! I work for a leading retailers and we strive in delivering exceptional customer service!
