TOAST

I travelled to York to try on items I had seen online as wasn’t sure of sizes. Staff were so helpful and gave me honest opinions on what suited me. I bought a dress and a blouse and left wanting more. Can’t praise them enough

What delightfully helpful staff. We visited here recently and it is located in a medieval shop which is repurposed as a Toast location. The clothes were well made with innovative designs. We spent a fun hour there as my wife tried on some clothes and made purchases. The staff were helpful, professional and quick to provide sizes requested. They gave an overall impression of being welcoming and helpful without hovering and left us to our own devices, unless we sought assistance and this is the reason for this five star review. review.

My sister and I visited Toast on a shopping day out on Friday 20th June. We travelled from County Durham , we particularly looked forward to shopping at Toast with a view to try on some trousers I was interested in purchasing. The shop was very welcoming and the girls were pleasant however we soon became irritated after being asked if we needed any help three times in a few minutes whilst browsing. We politely asked to view upstairs and we no sooner headed for the first step and we were asked to leave our bags downstairs with them. We were uncomfortable with this as my sister had treated herself to a ring from Sellors/Hamond Jewellers, however we complied with this request. We were followed by one of the staff who seemed to busy herself in a drawer of which seemed of no importance, it couldn’t have been more obvious that the girl was keeping her eye on us. We made our way downstairs to retrieve our bags, the other girls were at the counter point attending to some customers making a sale only to find that our bags were not put in a safe place and were actually at the customers feet at the wrong side of the counter! Surely this is bad practice to confiscate bags without keeping them safe. We are sorry to say it was not a pleasant experience for us, from entering the shop we felt it may be sales driven as we were approached three times, and to be followed around made us feel like we were criminals. Our money is as good as anyone else’s, but from this experience shopping online might suit us best. At least this review you will be mindful to treat all customers the same.

Such a lovely shop, the staff take lots of time to find the right items to enhance your wardrobe!

My sister and I had the most amazing shopping experience in the York shop yesterday. The staff are all incredible- thank you, it was the only shop we went in!!! The mulled wine and mince pies just added to the experience. Many thanks again. Kath and Cronk xx .
