The review is mainly for the staff. They are very helpful and friendly. I was in a bad situation and the staff didn’t hesitate to give a helping hand and I am truly grateful for the assistance I received that day. From finding the item to helping me out. For them it wasn’t just about helping a customer. It was helping another human being and I think that it is extremely commendable and I am so grateful especially to Sam who was the floor Manager (I Think) that. you are amazing and you are doing great work. Thank you and keep it up.

We have visited this store numerous times as we are down York every weekend from home. We have previously raised issues with the store in regards to the pizza counter. The male and female that work on here have no customer service skills at all. We always visit on a Saturday and hope to order a pizza for our tea. At 4PM we get told “no i’m closed” or “I’m not doing any more today I’m finished” SORRY. I have previously called the store and complained as there’s no sign or anything on the counter about this or opening times and was told they would be spoken too. We went in today “no I’m not making anymore” at 4PM is ridiculous, if you are looking to get one as you finish work I wouldn’t waste your time or fuel. We spoke to the customer service and was told “ah sometimes they finish at four sometimes they will stay until eight” . It would be lovely just to be able to pick and choose when you finish work. Helpful as always.

29th October 2025. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. Not only was this whipper snapper of a manager totally rude, barging in when I was talking to a staff member. He later denied it and didn't even apologise. Also, I'm not sure if he smokes, but the smell of cigarettes eminating was quite offensive to say the least. In this age of cut throat competition between all the supermarkets, one would think being courteous and professional to customers would be paramount/essential, but no, not in Asda Superstore (Monkscross). What makes it worse is that he is a manager! I would not like him to be my line manager if I was a junior staff member.

Great selection of stock and very helpful staff! Prices here seem to be pretty average for a superstore and the clothes section usually has a wide range of stock, also. The tech aisle can be a little pricey depending on what you want, however, most of the time the prices are alright. The toilets are a little dirty at times but, then again, they're toilets, they can't really be kept in good condition constantly, can they? The opening hours here can be little weird but are generally alright, however, would be better if they went back to their 24 Hours opening times like before. Just note that the staff here will more than likely ask for ID for any products that are age-restricted so ensure you don't forget it! They stick to the 25 policy here pretty well! There are escalators to reach the second floor for the clothes (George) section of the store which can be difficult for people with wheelchairs BUT luckily there's lifts behind the escalators, which usually seem to be working! The only reasons that I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars? The opening times and the fact that if the store is near closing I wouldn't say to expect there to be a great selection of stock, which is a shame because apart from these the store does very well!

The worst layout of a grocery shop I have ever experienced. The placement of products makes no sense. Why aren't all dairy products leading on to the next? ie cheese, creams, milk? They're dotted about like a haemorrhoid has decided where they go
