One of my rare 1 stars. The gentleman was a good sales person. The lady who seemed to be the manager was extremely rude. We were about the buy a watch but we left after her attitude. I have to mention that they lock the doors while you are negotiating.

I was with my family on hols at a day out in York. I collect jewellery and watches and was looking for an 18ct gold bracelet. Everything was fine whilst I waited to be served, and then when they brought the bracelets for me to look at they closed all the doors inferring they thought I was going to grab and run. I politely asked them to open the doors and let me out, and I left. Not the sort of experience I had expected or wanted. What a world we live in! It’s a shame as 18ct bracelets are hard to find and I was pleased to have spotted one. A much better way of dealing with it would have been to explain to me first why they were doing it and it was nothing personal. Don’t just lock me in without my consent.

Excellent service. The two Ladies working today were so lovely when my daughter came in to have her ears pierced. They made the whole experience brilliant

Note this is now a "Brown and Gold" branch. My friend wrecked a masonic ring of sentimental value. We only went in the shop while on a weekend break to York and are very glad we did. The staff (and the owner!) were very good and organised the estimate, then the repair and then sending the ring to us at the other end of the country. We are very happy with the craftsmanship. If every company and organisation could match these standards, life would be a dream!

So we took our grandaughter for her ears piercing today , the two ladies who assisted with this were so good with isabelle( 6yrs old and very nervous) I would highly recommend, they went above and beyond
