It’s a great shop and as well as some excellent donations which you don’t often find in charity shops, it sells a variety of products at reduced prices which have been donated by Shared Earth – things like organic incense, oils, jute bags, bamboo socks and the like. As I understand it, these are provided at no cost so It’s Donated makes a 100% profit on them. Unlike most charities, which have to pay for the ‘new’ goods they sell.
You can find loads for everyone in terms of clothes, kitchen items and electronics (PAT tested so they work) etc. I found many great items there that I am still using. They often have boxes outside with items at reduced price (£1). Though last time I went I was quite surprised of the prices of 2 trousers, I thought they will be £3 each as per a sign above a pile. But one trousers was from a very expensive label, so it was £12. So just ask for the price for item without a tag to avoid surprises at the checkout.
Some interesting characters working here - hippies, witches, new-agers and the like (and I don't mean this in any derogatory way). Always friendly. Keen prices and they always have new things in some keep visiting. Place is a bit grubby, but why should that matter? Worth a visit. Worth a second visit too.
Very dingy, smelly shop. Worst of all are the prices (way too high) and the rude, arrogant and self-righteous 'owners'. There are plenty of great charity shops in York; avoid this one.
Lovely little shop, a real hidden gem with lots of nice things in it! Products are very well priced for what they are. Great stuff!
