23 St Marys Guest House (Book Direct For Best Prices)

Second time I've stayed here. It's a very nice experience from the lovely decor, comfortable room, delicious breakfast and easy 10 min walk to the train station. On a quiet street, it's also fairly close to town center. I had a restful night here and would definitely recommend 23 St Mary's and would stay again if lucky enough to get back to York. Tiny downsides- Bathroom fan is noisy and goes on quite a while after shutting off light. Breakfast staff were friendly to all the English guests but only spoke to me as needed for service. Not a big deal but it would've been nice to interact a bit.

Third visit and not disappointed! Incredibly clean, warm and welcoming. The staff are great and breakfast is excellent. With parking available and a very central location (5 minutes to Bootham Bar), it is difficult to think of a better spot for a night or two in one of England's finest cities.

Loved staying here!! It was the perfect pick for a short break. The rooms were lovely and clean, the bed was VERY comfortable, and the bathroom was stunning. All fantastic for the price. The hotel is unmanned after 4pm but the staff were so welcoming and helpful during the early part of the day, and we were provided an on call number if we had any issues in the evenings (we didn’t!). Absolutely perfect location. Couldn’t find anything better if you tried. Just a few hundred metres walk directly from the station, then a short stroll through the museum gardens to the city centre! No faults, thank you!

Our room was very comfortable for a family of 4. We had one king and two twin beds, and the room was spacious enough to enjoy our short excursion to York. The location was fantastic. We could walk to the train station and to the city center. The street is quiet and beautiful. The bathroom was a highlight. It was spotless and looked recently renovated. The only thing was that we never saw any adult staff on the premises. The teen girls that worked there were very nice but couldn’t answer some of our questions. It would have been nice to have had face to face interaction with the owners or adult staff. Overall, we would stay there again and give it bonus points for cleanliness.

Beautiful room, great location. Had a lovely overnight during our 2 week UK trip. We stayed in the 4 poster room - bed could have been a little more comfortable (thin mattress, no boxspring), but the room is sweet and the bathroom was nice and modernized with a spacious shower. The location is unbeatable - on a lovely quiet historic street while still being super close to the train station and great walking distance to the center. Self check in was seamless and easy. Would definitely recommend!
