Barbican House

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Barbican House guest house. On our arrival we were greeted by Durga who provided off street parking in the car park and then went through registration and payment formalities. He was extremely friendly and polite! Our room was cozy and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The bed and pillows allowed us a very comfortable nights sleep. Location was, it was perfect. A short walk to the city walls and then up Walmgate to the city centre. Back to the hotel for shower and change and then out out for a great time in York. There is a very nice Chinese Restaurant on the next block within about 50yds of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely. Durga provided a list of items we could choose from and when the were placed in front of us they were well cooked and well presented. Two nights stay was well worth the price and the location was perfect. A quick shout out to Durga’s military background. Ex Gurkha Soldier and therefore presentation was impeccable. We will be going back again.

What a beautiful property hosted by wonderful people. The hosts made us tremendously welcome and ensured we know what we needed to know about the local area. The breakfast was delicious and kept us going until teatime! The room was lovely and comfortable and very warm and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this property if you're looking for some time in York and also if you want to be able so also leave your car and walk everywhere. Unfortunately we had to head back home early on the Sunday so couldn't say goodbye or thank you but thank you so much for a wonderful stay

What a lovely place to stay. Very close to the town centre and parking was easy. The hosts were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. It was our first time in york and gave us some great recommendations would certainly come here again. Cleanliness was second to none .. thank you Durga and your daughter for making our trip to York a special one

The owners of the guest house are very friendly and always asked if everything was all right. Our room and the bathroom were very lovely. The breakfast was very tasty. There were cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt, orange juice and we could choose what we wanted for the main course. Barbican house is also very close to the city (about 5 min to walk) We can warmly recommend Barbican house.

We stayed one night at Barbican House. Very enjoyable, great service & made to feel very welcome. Room was comfortable & clean. Breakfast was very good. Ideal location for exploring the city. Highly recommended.
