My stay was comfortable, despite the constant flatulence and snoring from other guests. You get what you pay for and this was very affordable for me. Conveniently located in the heart of York. A ten minute walk from the train station and a ten to fifteen minute walk from all of the bars and tourist attractions. The friendly and helpful staff ensured a clean and tidy environment. The hotel was picturesque, housed in a grand old building and yet was updated with vibrant colours, motifs and modern furniture. Wi-Fi was always available. Although don't expect a five star hotel. Bring your own towel as they only provide you with a pillow and bed spread. Dormitory was comfortable and warm as the heating was on throughout the night. I did experience noisy traffic outside, but the hostel faces the main road, so it was to be expected. If I were to come back to York someday, I would be very content staying here.

The hostel was in a great location, and was clean and comfortable. I like the privacy curtains on the individual beds and that there were sockets available in the top bunks. As I had prebooked breakfast, it was only a couple of quid and there was a good selection of pastries, cereals, and fruit. Unfortunately, the machine didn't do tea, and while the receptionist did make me one at the bar, I couldn't keep going back and forth for hot water top ups. If the machine won't give hot water, a teapot would be nice. My small quibble is that the pictures showed the beds with 2 pillows and they actually only had 1. Additional pillows were available to purchase, but I was on a very tight budget and one of the reasons I picked this location was that there were 2 pillows given automatically.

Booked a two night break with my daughter in a private triple room and it was amazing. Lovely room in the roof with original beams which was very clean and comfortable - tea and coffee provided. The hostel is just round the corner from the train station and a short walk from York centre. The building itself was absolutely stunning!

Perfect location to be near the train and a lovely walk to sight seeing! Loved every person we interacted with during our stay! Clean rooms, service for storage for luggage for your checkout! Thank you for the great services and hosting us! I would recommend more towels to be provided, bath mat, and good soaps. Maybe a better chair as ours was a bit overused. I wouldn’t charge competitive rates to hotels because of these.

Great place, good food, perfect location!! But, a living room/area would have been nice to hang out in. The lounge/bar is okay. But, since it's also Reception it's crowded and loud. And VERY cold since it's next to the front door. We ended up hanging out either in cold bar, dining hall, or the hall ways, or your bed. Not exactly comfy... And maybe a public microwave?
