Ascot House

We had a lovely long weekend with our 2 dogs. Very warm, cosy rooms with comfortable beds. The owner’s lovely and a real dog lover. Breakfast had a good selection of cold choices and the cooked breakfast was very nice. It was great that dogs were welcomed in the breakfast lounge. There was a park opposite to walk our dogs in the morning and before bed which was handy. It was a 15/20 min walk into town. Parking was a little difficult as there were only a few spaces in the car park but there is free on road parking outside the property. Had a really relaxed atmosphere and our dogs were made to feel really welcome. Would definitely recommend this place for a break in York especially if you’re looking for somewhere of quality to stay with your dog. Also a mention to The Nag’s Head just round the corner. A local pub that’s welcoming with great staff and does good food.

Just a fantastic stay. About 15mins from the main centre of York. June the proprietor welcomed us on our arrival and was helpful in advising us of places to visit too. A truly delightful lady. The rooms are lovely. The breakfast is absolutely 💯 amazing. The staff are lovely. Its not surprising it is won so many awards

A great small hotel. Spotlessly clean, room was a good size and breakfast was great too. A 15/20 minute walk into the city centre. Would stay here again.

We stayed at Ascot House for a few days last week. This is our 3rd visit to York, and our 3rd time staying here. As always it was a pleasure. June , the proprietor is so lovely, as are all the staff. The room was very spacious, comfortable bed , fabulous bathroom. It is in a great location, a short stroll into town. The breakfast is first class. Susanne & John.

Clean but very small rooms with flimsy small beds. Limited breakfast items. For example only one of each pastry, and only three small pieces of cheese and ham for at least 20 guests that were there. Nothing replenished during the service. Dining room very cramped with an adjoining 'living room' area that was never used and would be ideal for extending the dining area into, to make it more comfortable to move between the tables. Small car park that was full the time we were there. On the whole a clean but limited by its size establishment that was expensive comparing it to many other hotels we have used.
