Hotel Indigo York by IHG

My wife and i stayed here for two nights a few days before Christmas. The staff here are absolutely brilliant. Always smiling, and always helpful. Tim behind the bar has amazing energy and deserves a lot of praise. We had the breakfast here each morning, which was good enough for us. Everything was very clean and the ability to help yourselves made it quite an easy experience to start the day. The location was excellent as well as its only a stone throw away from the centre, but far enough away to avoid crowds of people. They also have on-site parking for £16 a day which seems reasonable. But parking spaces are scarce, my wife and I arrived in the morning to assure we got one. Our only issue was other guests making alot of noise from 9pm onwards. However when we called the front desk they went up to their room within 5 minutes to ask them to keep the noise down. My wife and I would 100% stay here again.

The rooms were exceptionally clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable—clearly maintained to a high standard. The housekeeping staff deserve special recognition for their attention to detail throughout my visit. The team at breakfast were equally impressive—genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Their warmth made each morning a pleasure. The location is another standout feature—just a short walk from the heart of the city, with a fantastic selection of independent bars, restaurants, and cafes right on the doorstep. It made exploring York’s food and drink scene incredibly easy and enjoyable. Overall, the service across the hotel was excellent. It’s clear that the staff take great pride in creating a positive experience for their guests. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend Hotel Indigo York to anyone visiting the city.

Very very nice hotel, easy walk into York City centre. Just 5 mins walk from The Shambles. Parking wasn’t that close but we parked at the Barbican and walked. Handy from Christmas market too as well as any night out in York. Staff were great. Rooms quality. And then bed was very comfy.

What a lovely place to stay, 5 mins from the city centre on foot so easily walkable but just far enough away not to be in the loud bit. The room was ace, clean, modern and classy. The breakfast was fantastic (especially the choice of continental). The jewel in the crown at this place is the staff, especially Phoebe who really made us feel welcome, smiley and nothing was too much trouble - made such a difference to have someone who seemed like they really enjoyed what they did! This hotel is hygge filled. Not only is the hotel in the perfect location with wonderfully decorated good sized rooms, its homely and cosy too. The staff genuinely welcome you, theres attention to small details such as little treats and the shower taps being where you get in the shower rather than under the running water. Such a cosy bed too, its a good job I had set an alarm.
