Staycity Aparthotels, York, Barbican Centre

Hotel lobby was lovely, very clean and the decor was very nice. The front of house staff were very pleasant and friendly and check in took very little time. The "room" itself was great! We were expecting a 1double bed and a fold out bed but we were pleasantly surprised by having 2 bedrooms, one with en-suite and a full bathroom. The apartment suite was very clean and spacious and had all the appliances you could need. The beds were comfy and the hotel was relatively quiet. Had a really lovely stay and we would 100% stay again as it was the best value for money too.

We stayed 2 nights for my sister's 21st birthday. Check in was so easy. The room was immaculate. Beautiful set up. Clean, modern and equipped with everything we needed. I would definitely stay again and recommend anyone to stay. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for making our weekend stress free and very enjoyable.

Good value for money and well equipped apartment. Cleaning had been disrupted due to staff shortages. I stayed for 8 nights and it wasn't cleaned and towels and bedding weren't changed. This wasn't an issue for me as I was staying on my own however it may have been a problem for a couple needing fresh towels. Reasonably priced coffee shop and bar at reception and Co-op 7-11 store downstairs was a good source of food and drinks.

The hotel is central to pretty much everything you could want in York. The room was clean and very modern looking. The room had everything you could want including an iron and ironing board, dish washer, cooker, fridge freezer, TV, microwave and Washing machine. The pull out bed is of a good size unless you are tall and was comfortable. The bathroom was nice and had a big walk in shower big enough for two and was disabled friendly having only a small lip to navigate. The extra bedding for the pull out sofas does include extra towels. Only two real negatives. Our fridge freezer was very noisy, sounded like a gorilla wrestling a bag of spanners. We were only staying one night so not a big problem and I'm sure the staff would have attempted a remedy if we were staying longer. The second issue is the standby led on the TV. If you are going to be sleeping on the pull out sofas switch the TV off at the wall (easily done) or a piece of black tape over the led. It is bright. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

No lift, greasy smell throughout hotel, security doors not working, small room, bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned for some time, kitchen and sink area dirty, duvet didn't fit inside the covers, view from window was the staircase to the Barbican, staff on reception never asked anything about our stay just checked you out and that was it. Cheaply run establishment, the only thing that was any good was it's location. Don't bother booking here you will only be disappointed.
