|FC Halifax Town has exciting news for fans as they announce the signing of winger Ben Tollitt, who joins the team after a season with Morecambe. This move adds fresh talent to the squad and comes at a crucial time as the season approaches.
Ben Tollitt's Journey
Ben Tollitt's football journey began at the prestigious Everton academy, where he honed his skills before being released. In 2013, he signed with Widnes, stepping into senior football for the first time. During his debut season, he showcased his potential by scoring eight goals in just 23 league appearances. This impressive start set the stage for his subsequent career. In November 2014, Tollitt moved to Skelmersdale United, initially on a dual registration deal, which allowed him to play for both clubs simultaneously. His talent was hard to ignore, and after a successful trial in the summer of 2015, he secured a contract with Portsmouth, then competing in League Two.
Career Highlights
Tollitt made his professional debut for Portsmouth in an exciting 2-1 victory against Derby County in the EFL Cup. His career took a significant turn in September 2016 when he went on loan to Tranmere Rovers. Just three months later, his loan was made permanent, marking a pivotal point in his career. However, after a short loan spell at Wrexham, Tollitt faced a setback when he was released by Tranmere in the summer of 2019. Following this, he joined Blackpool but soon found himself back on loan at Wrexham again. In January 2020, he signed with Macclesfield Town, making five appearances before the season concluded.
Recent Seasons
Tollitt's next chapter was with AFC Fylde in the National League North, where he found his rhythm. Over two seasons, he made more than 60 appearances and scored 17 goals, demonstrating his ability to impact games positively. This performance earned him a move to Oldham Athletic in the National League, where his first season was promising. However, as competition grew, he found his playing time reduced and was loaned out to Kidderminster Harriers and Chester. In July 2024, Tollitt joined Morecambe, being one of 15 new signings made on the same day after a registration embargo was lifted. Last season, he had a busy schedule, making 45 league appearances and scoring five goals, showcasing his determination and skill on the pitch.
