A new fundraising event is set to take place in Haworth, the village that was home to the famous Brontë sisters. Sue Ryder, a charity known for providing support during difficult times, is excited to announce the inaugural Brontë Pub Walk on Saturday, 15 August 2026. This event invites people of all ages to explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside while enjoying a friendly atmosphere and supporting a good cause.

Details Of The Event

The Brontë Pub Walk offers participants the choice of two scenic routes: a 5-mile walk or a more challenging 10-mile trek. Both routes will take walkers through stunning landscapes that inspired the works of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë. The event will begin at 11 am and includes a series of refreshment stops along the way, making it a perfect outing for families, friends, and colleagues.

As walkers navigate their routes, they will pass through charming areas such as Stanbury, Ponden, and the outskirts of Oakworth, before finishing on the iconic Haworth Main Street. This picturesque setting not only provides a fantastic backdrop for the event but also pays homage to the literary legacy of the Brontë sisters.

Refreshments And Registration

With eight refreshment points available on the full 10-mile route and six on the shorter 5-mile path, participants can enjoy snacks and drinks as they stroll. This relaxed pace encourages socialising, making it an ideal day out for everyone involved.

To sweeten the deal, anyone who registers before 1 August will receive a free Brontë Pub Walk T-shirt, adding an extra incentive to sign up early. The entry fees are as follows:

  • Adults: £18

  • Under 18s: £8

  • Family ticket (two adults, two children): £45

Supporting A Good Cause

Adam Brunskill, the Regional Fundraising Team Leader at Sue Ryder, expressed enthusiasm about the new event:

“We’re really excited to launch the very first Brontë Pub Walk, off the back of the success of the recent Wharfedale Pub Walk. It’s a brilliant new way for people to come together, enjoy the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and support Sue Ryder’s expert, compassionate care. Whether you take on the 5-mile or 10-mile route, we’d love to see families, friends and colleagues joining us for what promises to be a fantastic day.”

By participating in the Brontë Pub Walk, walkers will not only enjoy a delightful day out but also contribute to Sue Ryder’s important work in providing palliative, end-of-life, and grief support. For over 70 years, the charity has been a pillar of strength for those facing challenging times, offering care and support to individuals and families in need.
