|A unique charity event is set to take place in Leeds City Square from 7 to 9 August 2026, where Chris Sylvester, the founder of Getting Clean, will be sitting in a bathtub for up to 60 hours. This unusual stunt, called the 'TUBtrap,' aims to raise £50,000 for the social enterprise, which supports people in recovery from addiction. The event is free for the public to watch, and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase handmade soap on-site to help fund the cause.
Event Details
The TUBtrap event kicks off on 7 August and runs through to 9 August. During this time, Sylvester will be in the bathtub, and the public can participate by buying soap to help 'free' him from his watery confinement. Each bar of soap purchased contributes directly to the fundraising goal, and as the sales increase, so does the support for those battling addiction.
Supporting Getting Clean
Getting Clean is a Leeds-based social enterprise with a mission to create employment opportunities for individuals in recovery from addiction. The organisation donates 50% of its profits to further support addiction recovery initiatives. Chris Sylvester, who has personally experienced the challenges of addiction, is passionate about helping others find their path to recovery through meaningful work.
Local Business Involvement
Local bathroom retailer Sanctuary Bathrooms is backing the TUBtrap campaign in a big way. They have already placed an order for 300 bars of soap, valued at £2,350, which will contribute to the fundraising target.
James Roberts, Director of Sanctuary Bathrooms, expressed his enthusiasm for the project:
“As a Leeds-based family business, we wanted to do something practical to support the incredible work Getting Clean is doing in our local community.”
Sanctuary Bathrooms will offer a free bar of soap to customers purchasing a bath or shower during the event.
They encourage other local businesses to consider supporting the campaign through bulk orders or corporate gifts.
Orders will help fund employment for people in recovery, creating a positive impact in the community.
