Visited the hospice shop for the first time in a while and found out that they weren't accepting donations again... they had the courtesy to put up two signs saying this, but have chosen to do so whilst the only other remaining charity shop in South Elmsall; the British Red Cross, is closed for refurbishment until the start of September. I looked inside at the amount of stock on shop floor and then saw the pricing. I've heard many complaints from people whilst shopping at the British Red Cross; ranging from the poor/non-existent customer service to the extortionate pricing of certain items. I've also been told not to volunteer there as, those who do, get treated like rubbish and often leave within a few weeks of starting. I've also heard that any "branded" or "High Value" donations are often put away for collection so they can be sent off to other shops to be sold at a higher price. I personally find this disgusting as I feel that anything you donate should at least be given a chance to be sold in a LOCAL STORE before being sent off elsewhere. And on the topic of refusing donations, I've also heard that the "Manager"; if you can call them that, doesn't do their job properly and formerly managed the Age UK shop, which has now shut down. Anyone seeing this review, please... hold your donations until the British Red Cross reopens as; at least then, your donations will have a higher chance to be accepted by a charity shop who legitimately cares about your donations, instead of this place.

Tracey is absolutely goes above and beyond, helps anyway she can and my kids love going in just to see her. Even to give them ice pops on these hot summer days she’s an absolute credit to this shop!
