Taste of China

Taste of China is a traditional Chinese takeaway which has been on Halifax Road for some considerable time. They don’t do social media, Just Eat, Uber Eats, or any of the other modern trappings and middle men that would cause prices to go up, and I don’t blame them. I rolled up and ordered face to face (strange concept in this day and age I know), service was pleasant enough and straight to the point which suits me fine and while I waited there were actual printed newspapers to read and somewhere comfortable to sit. The wait was 15 mins max and I was on my way again. We went for the mix starter for 2, salt and pepper kng prawns, special fried rice, and curry sauce. They also threw in free prawn crackers and spring rolls so there was plenty of food for the 2 of us. All of the food was well cooked and good quality, although my other half did note that the prawn toast in the mixed starter had at least an element of chicken mixed in with the prawns (we’ve eaten prawn toast in multiple countries so we know!). Would we go again? Yep, no problem.

The Chinese curry tasted nice with all the vegetables but I like my chicken well done and the chicken in it had a jelly like texture. The chicken wings didn't taste fresh, the skin underneath and chicken inside had an horrible taste. My son loved his sweet and sour chicken, rice and spring rolls though. He gave it 10 out of 10. The lady on the phone was really polite and the guy who delivered it was too.

One of our regular takeouts! food is always superb, tasty and fresh, however the service lets it down, the young girl is appalling who served us tonight we collected around 8:30- 8:45pm the only word is rude, customer service is none existent! Deliveries do take a while however the delivery drivers are always friendly, we will be sticking to delivery from here and now!

Lovely Chinese takeaway tonight for my family, we ordered for delivery which was a little bit of a wait just one hour but well worth it. Food was fresh and piping hot The girl who takes the orders is always great and happy to serve you, great customer service from her as always we are regular customers, very happy tonight

We ordered a simple meal – chips, plain noodles, and curry sauce. Unfortunately, the noodles came with bean sprouts, which one of us is allergic to. We rang the shop, and they were willing to deliver replacement plain noodles, which we appreciated. However, they also took back the opened noodles we had already touched. This has left us very concerned, as we really hope these won’t be given to another customer. We’ve been ordering from here for years and have always been happy, but this experience has shaken our confidence. We now worry about whether food might be reused or if orders might get mixed up. Sadly, because of this, we won’t be ordering again.
