Solidworks Design Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering and manufacturing business seeking a talented engineer to join their design team.</p> <p>This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of bespoke projects from concept through to manufacture, collaborating closely with production, fabrication and project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.</p> <p>As a SolidWorks Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing fabricated components, assemblies and manufacturing solutions using SolidWorks and CAD/CAM software. You will play a key role in supporting production processes, improving designs for manufacture, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and accurately.</p> <p>Roles & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Create detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.</li><li>Develop CAD/CAM programs for CNC machining and fabrication processes.</li><li>Design sheet metal, welded and fabricated components and assemblies.</li><li>Produce accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.</li><li>Liaise with fabrication, machining and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable.</li><li>Support continuous improvement initiatives and design optimisation.</li><li>Conduct design reviews and resolve engineering issues during production.</li><li>Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements.</li><li>Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and quality procedures.</li></ul> <p>Essential</p> <ul> <li>Proven experience as a Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or similar.</li><li>Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.</li><li>Strong CAD/CAM programming experience.</li><li>Knowledge of fabrication, welding and sheet metal manufacturing processes.</li><li>Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings.</li><li>Understanding of CNC machining principles and manufacturing techniques.</li><li>Ability to interpret engineering specifications and technical requirements.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.</li><li>HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.</li></ul>
