A bit worn out I'm afraid Took friends who were visiting over Christmas holidays so Saturday visit in school holidays was busy. Big queue so recommend getting to session early. No pre booking system available. Queue up staircase once we got to booking area one girl taking card payment and one taking cash payments so Id recommend taking cash as you get served quicker. After payment queue you get into another queue for skates then you can finally get into arena which is loud the speakers are up full so for spectators you can't really chat. Spectators pay £2. Toilets are available again just a bit worn out. Foid and drink available in cafe I only had a cup of coffee. There's also a vending coffee machine.
Went to the ice rink for the first time today for one of my children's birthday. You can't book on line and, due to only having one person taking entrance fees, it took thirty minutes to get in. The reasons were that there was only one person on the till, they only had one card reader for card payments which they had to share will another till which dealt with penguins used for those who can't skate and no online booking facility. It was like something out of the 1960s. The place itself was much in need of some TLC as looked very tatty. Despite the adults' view of the place, thankfully the kids had a good time. Everything about the place needs urgently updating.
Myself and my daughter went for a second time today. The staff are great, I was like 80p short for a snowman came to pay before we left and said we can pay next time we come. The lady in reception is fantastic. Building could do with a lick of paint but I kinda like the rustic feel more homely. Anyway thanks be back soon.
It was my first time skating and everyone was really friendly. Helping me get up after I fell. I had quite a bad fall and got winded (as is expected of my first time) but the staff helped me up and escorted me off the ice. They gave me an ice pack for my back. Very nice of them
As a family we've been to different ice skating rinks. Unfortunately, this is by far the worst. The skates are horrible and literally cut into your feet, even swapping to others didn't help! The building is in urgent need of a refurb and the staff in the boot hire have no pleasantries to offer and clearly hate their jobs. Another thing to note is that lockers aren't self serve like in most venues. You have to give your belongings over the counter to a grumpy worker who then gives you a tag. What could happen to valuables is a bit of a worry and alot of responsibility for the employees.
