It’s fair to say that mixing business with pleasure can be a bit tricky. The usual corporate events can feel a bit stuffy, and trying to build real connections over a lukewarm buffet isn't always easy. But what if there was a way to combine a proper physical challenge with some top-tier networking, all while soaking up some of the most stunning scenery in the country? That’s exactly what the Yorkshire Ton corporate sportive offers. After a brilliant relaunch, the team at Struggle Events is bringing this unique cycling event back for 2026, bigger and better than before. On Friday 19th June 2026, hundreds of riders will gather at the magnificent Bowcliffe Hall to take on a challenge, make connections, and raise money for a fantastic cause. It's an opportunity for colleagues and clients to get out of the office and onto the open road.

What's the Yorkshire Ton all about?

Think of it as a business meeting in lycra, but a lot more fun. The Yorkshire Ton, formerly known as the Wharfedale Ton, is a corporate cycling event designed for professionals who fancy swapping the boardroom for the beautiful roads of Yorkshire. It’s not just about getting from A to B; it’s about the conversations had on the climbs and the contacts made over a coffee stop. The event is expanding to offer even more places, meaning more opportunities for riders to connect. And it’s all for a good cause, with the event raising much-needed funds for the incredible charity Marie Curie. So, while participants are pushing their limits, they’re also supporting people in need. The organisers, Struggle Events, are well-known for putting on brilliant rides, and this one has been crafted specifically to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere perfect for networking.

A route for every rider

One of the best things about this event is that it caters for different abilities. Not everyone is a seasoned pro who spends their weekends tackling mountain passes. The organisers have designed two fantastic new routes to make sure everyone can join in and complete "the ton."

  • 100 Miles – The big one. A classic century ride serving as a proper endurance challenge for hardy riders, designed to test the legs and lungs while taking in some of the finest cycling roads in North Yorkshire.

  • 100 Kilometres – A fantastic but slightly more manageable challenge, perfect for riders looking to push past their comfort zone without committing to the full imperial century. Still a significant achievement and a brilliant day out.

Both routes will wind through quiet countryside lanes across North Yorkshire, showcasing the county at its best. It’s a chance to experience the very best of Yorkshire cycling, away from busy traffic. Any rider from any sector is welcome, making it a fantastic opportunity to encourage clients and colleagues to sign up and share the experience.

More than just a ride: networking on two wheels

Let's be honest, traditional networking can sometimes feel a bit forced. But there’s something about sharing a physical challenge that breaks down barriers. Pedalling side-by-side with a potential client or a new contact is a brilliant way to have a real conversation. The day is structured to maximise these opportunities. It all starts with a pre-ride networking breakfast. This is the perfect time to fuel up for the day, grab a coffee, and start chatting with other participants before the ride even begins. Once the ride is over, the networking continues. The post-ride atmosphere is always buzzing, as everyone gathers for some well-earned food and drink to share stories from the road. This relaxed setting at Bowcliffe Hall is ideal for cementing the connections made out on the bike. It's an invitation for both colleagues and clients to build relationships in a way that just isn't possible over an email or a video call.

The stunning venue: Bowcliffe Hall

The choice of venue says a lot about an event, and Bowcliffe Hall is something special. This exclusive estate provides a stunning backdrop for the day. Its location is also a massive plus point. Situated just off the A1/M1 link, it’s incredibly easy to get to, whether travelling from nearby Leeds, across from Manchester, or further afield. This accessibility makes it simple to organise a team day out or invite guests from across the north. The day kicks off with a delicious breakfast in the impressive grounds and wraps up with that rewarding post-ride meal. It adds a touch of class to the whole experience, making it a day that people will remember for all the right reasons.

How to get involved

So, does a day of cycling, chatting, and chewing the fat through the glorious Yorkshire countryside sound good? The Yorkshire Ton corporate sportive takes place on Friday 19th June 2026. With more places available this year, it's the perfect time to get a team together. Whether it's to challenge your colleagues, thank your clients, or just to get out on the bike and meet some new people, this is an event that delivers on all fronts.
