I like this health club for its affiliation with Holiday Inn, which I use extensively. The club is small but effective and I particularly like the hot tub, which has floor to ceiling windows providing views over the Yorkshire hills. But that praise comes with a serious caveat: When I stayed at the hotel in March, the hot tub was out of service and I was never informed by the hotel via its website of at check in. Using the facilities was the main reason for my visit and I was bitterly disappointed. The hotel kindly arranged for me to be able to use the hot tub on a future occasion and I reached out to the club manager, Nick Coleman, to arrange this. I received a warm response and was advised of a singledate when the hot tub would be out of service. I then contacted Mr Coleman again to arrange a date to visit and was told that it was out of service for an unknown period. I verified with Mr Coleman by email on 12th April that things were up and running again as I would like to visit on 14th or 15th April. He kindly confirmed that they were. On 14th April I drove a 100 mile round trip specifically to use the hot tub and take dinner afterwards. On arrival I found that the spa was again closed due to a staff member forgetting to set the chlorine levels correctly. The manager made no attempt to contact me and advise me of this in advance, knowing full well this was a service recovery visit and having my contact details. I wrote to Mr Coleman on 15th April to express my strongest disappointment for my experiences since March and suggesting an amicable solution that You Fit issue me with two single entry passes to use the hot tub over the next 12 months as I do not live locally. This reviewer is both disillusioned and disappointed that no reply or telephone call has ever been received by way of response. My experience of You Fit Brighouse and the resident manager during March and April leaves much to be desired and I am saddened at the need to describe the regretable sequence of events contained in this review, all of which have a verifiable audit trail via email.
Unfortunately for what you pay its absolutely terrible value for money. Staff are nice but the place is abysmal, I left and now actually pay slightly more for my gym but they're not even on the same planet. The gym here is dreadful and the facilities are so dated. I'd use it if staying at the holiday inn but wouldn't pay for a membership. On top of it being dated something is always broken and taking ages to be repaired. I dont think there will be that many worse value gyms out there in the UK. Shame because if could actually be okay.
I joined this club on the recommendation of a friend who advised me the pool is usually quiet. This is far from the case and seems to have gotten even busier as the months tick by. The pool simply isn't big enough for the number of people trying to swim and there are no lanes set up for circular swimming so it's essentially a free-for-all. The time of day seems to bare no relevance either. You might get lucky and find only a few in the pool but then you swim a few lengths and before you know it there's somebody else getting in, then another and another. It's quite stressful so I will be cancelling my membership as soon as my 12 months are up. Edited to add that weekend opening hours have now been temporarily (!) reduced due to staffing issues so I cannot even go for an early morning swim anymore. Used to open at 7am but now it's 9am till 6pm so pool will be even busier and no way to avoid the kids early on. Disgraceful.
Facilities well outdated, half the time the facilities are not even available, swimming pool closed, yet still charging you full price. When complained over 3 months ago, I was told I can cancel my membership if I'm not happy. So I gave notice over the phone and cancelled my direct debit. Nobody mentioned that you can only cancel your contract if you email one specific email address that isn't mentioned anywhere on their website only on the T&C. God sees my soul I've been calling them for weeks to get this sorted and promised me to call back but never did. They are just waiting for the debt to grow and just to tell you it's my fault I haven't read the T&Cs. I am absolutely disgusted.
Turned up tonight and the place was in darkness!! No message to say the club was closed. This place just gets worse. Not worth the monthly premium at all. Swimming lessons take over the pool most of the time! Something is always broken, either the sauna, steam room or the jacuzzi. It’s about time some money was spent to keep this place alive.
