About Oscar' at Station House

Description

This railway carriage, built in Derby in 1962, has been fully refurbished to a very high standard and is situated at the old Cloughton Railway Station, on the Scarborough to Whitby line which closed in 1965 after 80 years of taking passengers along the scenic, 21-mile route between the two towns.

The carriage is fully air-conditioned and has two twin-bedded rooms and one double, en suite room, sleeping six in all, in addition to a separate shower-room/toilet, kitchen and 19-foot lounge/dining area. Two of the original seats have been re-upholstered and can comfortably be used to provide sleeping for a further two people. It is situated alongside the old platform, a very short distance away from the station and is completely private and not overlooked. A private garden area and barbecue is provided and there is ample parking for cars. Cycles and motorcycles can be locked overnight in our fully-alarmed garage if required.

We are a 20-minute walk from the sea and The Cleveland Way and a similar distance from the moors, whilst Dalby Forest is a 15-minute drive away. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the now famous 'Heartbeat' countryside are less than 30 minutes away by road. It is very much a rural, seaside area, which is ideal for walkers and cyclists. The village of Cloughton is five miles from Scarborough along the A171, north towards Whitby. Station Lane is the first road on the right in Cloughton. The village has two pubs, both of which serve food, and one post office/newsagent. Cloughton Station was opened as a tea room in 1996 and also provides bed and breakfast accommodation in two en suite rooms.
