This isn't just any concert; it's a chance to see two of the most successful and loved artists from the last few decades perform their biggest hits in a truly stunning setting. The show is part of the TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall 2026 summer series, which is already shaping up to be a calendar full of incredible music.

A night of pop royalty is coming to Halifax

Mark your calendars for Friday, 10 July 2026. That’s the night the global music icon Billy Ocean will take to the stage in The Piece Hall’s iconic open-air courtyard. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, the show will be opened by a very special guest, the former Wet Wet Wet frontman, Marti Pellow. Imagine a warm summer evening, surrounded by history, listening to songs that have been the soundtrack to so many lives. It promises to be a unique experience, combining timeless music with a spectacular venue.

The team at The Piece Hall are just as excited. Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL, the CEO of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, shared her thoughts on the announcement.

“What a joy to be welcoming Billy Ocean to our beautiful venue. Hearing the original king of soulful pop, who’s famed for his live performances, in our historic courtyard with his beautiful voice, will be an unforgettable experience. And as if one star isn’t enough, Billy is joined by very special guest Marti Pellow – making this a full night of iconic songs and pure talent. I just can’t wait.”

This show is just one of many amazing nights of music organised by promoters Cuffe and Taylor, who have a knack for bringing world-class artists to incredible locations.

Who is the legendary Billy Ocean?

For anyone who might not know, Billy Ocean is a true music superstar. Born in Trinidad and raised in London, his career has been nothing short of amazing. He's sold over 30 million records around the world, which is a staggering number. Think about that for a second! His soulful voice and catchy songs have earned him a massive collection of awards, including a GRAMMY, an Ivor Novello Award, and even an MBE for his services to music. He's been a successful artist for decades.

His breakthrough happened way back in 1976 with Love Really Hurts Without You. Since then, he’s released a string of global hits that are impossible not to sing along to. Here are just a few you’ll almost certainly know:

  • Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)
  • When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going
  • Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car
  • Red Light Spells Danger
  • Suddenly

His live shows are famous for being full of energy and fun, making this a performance you won’t want to miss. For more information, fans often check out his official website or social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.

And what about the special guest, Marti Pellow?

Opening the show is Marti Pellow, a man with one of the most recognisable voices in British music. As the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet, he was behind some of the biggest hits of the '80s and '90s. The band sold over 15 million albums, with iconic tunes like Sweet Little Mystery, Goodnight Girl, and of course, the monster hit Love Is All Around.

But his career didn't stop there. Marti has had a hugely successful solo career, exploring different styles of music from pop to jazz. He's also a star of the stage, having performed in massive musical theatre productions in London’s West End and on Broadway. He’s appeared in shows like Chicago, Evita, and Blood Brothers, proving he's a true all-round entertainer. Getting two incredible artists like this on one bill is a rare treat.

The Piece Hall: more than just a venue

So, what makes this venue so special? The Piece Hall isn't your average concert hall. It's a Grade I listed building, which means it's considered nationally important and has special protection. It's actually the only remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world. Back in 1779, it was a bustling marketplace where weavers would come to sell long rolls of woollen cloth called 'pieces'.

Today, this historic building has been transformed into an amazing destination. The huge 66,000 sq ft open-air courtyard, which feels like one of the grand squares you might see in Europe, is now surrounded by independent shops, cool restaurants, and cosy bars. It's a unique place that blends history with modern life, creating an incredible atmosphere for live music. Since reopening in 2017, The Piece has welcomed more than 18 million visitors and has become one of the top spots in the UK for outdoor shows.

How to get your tickets for this iconic show

Now for the important bit: getting tickets. You’ll want to be quick, as this show is expected to be very popular. Tickets for Billy Ocean with special guest Marti Pellow go on general sale at 10 am on Friday, 17 October. You can grab them from the official websites, thepiecehall.co.uk and ticketmaster.co.uk. It’s always best to buy from official sellers to make sure your tickets are genuine. For the latest information, it’s a good idea to follow The Piece Hall on their social channels like Instagram.
