I found The Home Safe Scheme (THSS) to be extremely helpful as the Council’s Selective Licensing Delivery Partner. They gave invaluable advice and support on the implementation, introduction and operation of the Council’s Selective Licensing Scheme. THSS’s balanced advice, inspections, reporting, and support to their landlord members, really helped them to understand legal requirements and to comply without the need for Council intervention or enforcement. While managing Private Sector Housing at my previous local authority, The Home Safe Scheme (THSS) were invaluable in the implementation and running of a Selective Licensing scheme in one of the most deprived wards in the country. As our delivery partner, they took on the the majority of administrative and inspection work at a greatly reduced cost compared with an in-house solution. The main draw to THSS was their knowledge and experience of how Selective Licensing schemes operate. Added to this was a shared passion in delivering a scheme geared towards maximising the holistic benefits that introducing a scheme can bring. THSS are the ideal delivery partner, working closely with the Council on the creation and day-to-day maintenance of the scheme and responding swiftly to any concerns in a professional manner. As their management team includes ex-local government officers, their understanding of Town Hall mechanisms is excellent. I found this invaluable, especially during the first wave of the pandemic, in maintaining our working relationship to such a high level. In short, working with THSS was a rewarding experience that I believe will result in greater benefits to landlords and residents (over a full LA administered scheme). The home safe scheme is fantastic for information and advice. I’ve been with them over five years and they’ve been very helpful over that time.

I disagree with licensing but very happy with home safe in the way they deal with.
