Never again. Looks nice and clean on the pictures but couldn't believe the bathroom had been cleaned with very strong bleach. Couldn't use it. The heating/air-conditioning unit was making me wheeze and turned this off. These are known to harbour mould particles over time and need cleaning regularly. Obviously they don't here. The bed was not secure and shot sideways when you got in. The breakfast was dry. Staff non existent. Very strange experience. Definitely not for me

The hotel does not reply to or even read emails. There is no drinking water in the room, which is usually a standard in 4-star hotels. The sound insulation in the rooms is very poor — you can hear everything happening in the corridors. Breakfasts are modest, and decent-quality coffee is available only at an additional charge

Awful. I would not recommend this hotel. Nothing about it was acceptable. I've had better experiences in 2-star hotels. This is not a 4-star hotel. Stayed with my 18 year old for 1 night on October 4th 2025, twin room. My son said it's the worst hotel he has ever stayed in. The worst part was the noise from other guests - there was a lot - despite a feature of the hotel being described as 'sound proofing'. More like false advertising. And I don't mean rowdy, shouting hysteria. I could actually hear other guests emptying their bowels. And whoever Nathan is, I hope he listened to his Dad and put his shoes on so he could carry on running the corridors at 6am. The walls must be made of paper. There was a lot of noise. Soft furnishings were very tired and stained, including the curtains. I couldn't use the TV as the remote control was so sticky and worn the text had come off the buttons. There appeared to be black mould growing on the shower floor. The smell in the corridors and room was really unpleasant. It was not mentioned to me on arrival that I needed to book my car in, or I would be fined for parking, the desk staff were unapologetic about this. I was also slightly concerned by the booking notifications which referred to me as 'Mr', which I am not. Gender is a protected characteristic - the hotel should be more careful about this. Spoke to reception about all of this. They really did not care. I chose the Mercure after good experiences in other hotels, but I will not be using them again after this experience.

Rude staff on entry as my guest needed a room for the night. Turned away abruptly with no offering to help for another accommodation. No soap in room. No instructions on phone to call reception. Room service offered but not available as “changing menu”. Rooms are very dated with mould in bathrooms. Broken pegs in bedrooms.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, check in was easy after I had worked a long shift which was nice. However, the room itself stunk. It smelt like mould. I can’t describe it. . On the second night after coming back from work the key didn’t work. It took 25 mins for somebody to come to reception and rectify the matter in 2 secs. But a few people were struggling with the same thing. Overall it was okay, if you can get past the room smell.
