Recently, Doncaster Chamber played host to a remarkable event, marking the first Women in Business Gala in South Yorkshire. This special evening took place at the elegant Bawtry Hall, filled with opportunities for networking, discussion, and shared experiences aimed at enhancing career development and progression for women in business.

Women in Business Gala

The gala was designed to provide a more formal setting for women to connect and learn from each other. Emma Ward, the Head of Marketing and Events at Doncaster Chamber, explained the purpose of the event: “The Women in Business Gala was designed to complement Doncaster Chamber’s wider programme of events, offering a more formal evening setting where attendees can come together, enjoy an elevated venue experience, connect with other women in business, and still benefit from shared learning and conversation.”

The evening began with a warm welcome from the host, Amelia Banful, who is the Head of Business Strategy at Enviro Electronics. After the first course was served, the opening panel session commenced. This session was chaired by Jill Wood, the Managing Director of Signum Facilities Management and Vice President of Doncaster Chamber. She led a thought-provoking discussion with panellists including Theresa Spencer, the Chief Operating Officer at G2M Group, and Hannah Din, the Chief Executive Officer at Thrive Social Capital CIC.

The panel explored the challenges women face when transitioning into senior leadership roles. They discussed how their daily responsibilities shift towards a more strategic focus as they progress in their careers. This kind of conversation is crucial as it highlights the evolving priorities women encounter at different stages of their professional journeys.
