Had a great time! Greens were immaculate and challenging. Very undulating in places with a lot of blind shots which made it a challenge. The set up is unique with some holes from the front 9 being replayed on the back 9 from differing tee boxes. The first tee box is a bit of walk from the main car park which was interesting. Only thing I’d add is it would be useful for non members if a course map was on the back of the score card. If I had a bit more knowledge of the course and its hazards I’d like to think I’d have shot a lower score 😂 If I’m ever in the area again, I would come back! Have to better my score!
Great course, deceptively difficult. Greens were excellent
Was greeted at the first hole by friendly staff. Course was in excellent condition. Looking forward to coming back again soon. A+++
Played Draxs golf course today What a experience to have played here With the course marshal Peter to help us with guidance as this was are first visit Course is in excellent condition And the greens are true and fast What a pleasure to play here Definitely be back And a big thank you Peter
I have to say, this is without doubt the worst golf course I have ever played on. Now I am by no means a professional golfer, far from it in fact, I'm very average, but by the end of the first hole, I was ready for calling it a day. Now I know it's winter, I know grounds have to be maintained and I know the course isn't going to be in the best of conditions due to the time of year. However, the ground was boggy, sludgy, muddy as all hell and waterlogged in places, making for a very unhappy round. The fairways made it very hard to play, finding a dry patch of grass to play from was difficult, if not impossible, and trying to repair divots was a losing battle. The tee boxes weren't great, fairly muddy and slippery in places, even with spikes. The greens were a different thing altogether, they had been scarified with massive lines the whole length of the green, making putting nearly impossible, great raised sections of grass with tracks in them big enough to run a train on. It's a short course in appalling condition, and it's shocking that they're actually charging the public to play this. Wish I'd taken my waders. All in all, a course that came highly recommended ended up being a disappointment for all 6 of us, and honestly, the hidden gem of Yorkshire can stay hidden. The only reason I gave two stars was due to the frosty glass my pint of Madri came in, which was the highlight of the trip.
