1 – 11 December | Leeds city centre

Christmas in Yorkshire just wouldn’t be the same without the sparkle of the Leeds Christmas Market – and this year, schools across the county are invited to experience it in a way that’s both magical and educational.

From Monday 1 December to Thursday 11 December 2025, FREE guided tours of the market will be offered exclusively for Primary School pupils. Designed to bring the sights, sounds and stories of this much-loved festive market to life, the tours are an inspiring opportunity to combine a seasonal outing with interactive learning.

A Seasonal Learning Experience

The Leeds Christmas Market is one of the region’s most popular winter attractions, drawing visitors to its cosy chalets, handmade gifts, seasonal treats and twinkling lights in the heart of the city.

Now, thanks to Market Place, the operators behind the event, pupils can explore the market through a specially curated educational programme. The initiative aims to support schools by offering fun and memorable ways for children to learn outside the classroom — from discovering the history of Christmas markets and their European traditions to exploring local crafts, produce and the business of running a market.

Having already received a national industry Award for Innovation for its education tours, Market Place is once again putting learning at the heart of this year’s celebrations.

I lived in Yorkshire in 1953 and carved in The Cow or the Calf my name and my 2 brothers> DRRWHITEHEAD in the front in the enclosed area. I was in Ilkley moor in January, but could not climb up the hill as it was too icy. I would like to have a current photograph of our names and are willing to pay. I was at Leeds University in 1969 and have a picture from then. Please let me hear your comments. Thank you. I live in New York.
