Grantley Arms

Beautifully decorated pub that is dog friendly and feels very English and traditional. It was a birthday meal booked last minute and we were lucky to get a slot. We had a lovely seat by the real fire and the twinkly lights and real candles created such a cosy warm atmosphere. The position next to the fire got a teeny bit warm but I prefer warm to cold any day. Our dog loved the fire. The food was gorgeous, we had fish and chips, Beautiful crisp batter and very yummy crisp but soft in the centre chips. The tartar sauce was divine. We had the sourdough bread to start which was yummy. Wonderful experience and well worth booking, great place to celebrate. One teeny thing was we were charged £10 discretionary service which overall wasn't bad but not great either...we wanted salt for our chips and none in the salt and pepper combo on the table...you'd think they would check before each service? So asked for some...waited ages till in the end the couple near us passed over theirs...not ideal as been to better service places without a service charge. However, it was only a minor detail and didn't take away from our lovely time. Thank you

In the middle of nowhere in Grantley village next to the Grantley Hall Estate. If you're staying in Ripon try this pub/restaurant. Lovely location, locally sourced food. In our opinion it was superb, nice surroundings with nice moody decor. Not an extensive menu, (which is good), nicely presented by pleasant staff. We enjoyed ours immensely. I'd book in advance to avoid disappointment. Great food and wine. Would we go back? Absolutely.

A fabulous place to eat , tastefully decorated very classy , we were a walk in for lunch and the found us a table but booking is advised . The ambiance and decor is top ,lovely place settings roaring fires but still a cosy feel . Staff were fantastic polite ,chatty and engaging Liam the head waiter chatted like we were old friends . The food was good but not exceptional (we did only have burgers not the most expensive choice I know )but it was tasty and well presented , It's not a cheap option to eat but trust me it's worth it . There is ample outside areas Will definitely return Parking is tight so take care or use the road

Came here to celebrate my birthday and there was an issue with the book (error from OpenTable), therefore our reservation for 7 people was not showing up on the system. I was really looking forward to eating here and was so upset to find out there was no booking and there were no more tables available. However, the front of house manager managed to give us a table outside in the glorious weather - I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday Sunday roast with my family!! The serve was great and the food was delicious! Thank you for the perfect visit!

Service incredibly slow (got starters before drinks order) Food was warm at best and pastry was dry. Was going to order dessert but nobody came and I think we would still be waiting now. Asked for service to be removed from the bill. Sadly won't be returning.
