SPAR Threshfield

I had a frustrating experience at SPAR recently. Despite being well over 25 and looking more than 30, I was refused service due to the Challenge 25 policy. The staff insisted on ID, which I didn’t have at the time, leaving me embarrassed and unwelcome. This rigid approach to age verification feels excessive and inappropriate given the facts. SPAR needs to train staff to recognise when common sense should apply. I hope for a better experience for future customers, or I’ll be recommending Tesco and BP.

Good selection of produce, decent fuel prices. Really wish they would consider removing the TV at checkouts, rolling BBC news is depressing!

Theirs are the best fuel prices around, but at busy times there's an excessive wait to fill up as everyone needs to go into the store to settle the bill, rather than paying at the pump. We gave up ...

A very handy shop closer to work but I find this place sometimes very busy, particularly when going to fill up for fuel or waiting in a long queue to be served. I do find it quite frustrating and annoying when times like that happen. A couple of improvements needed to be made is to provide a pay at pump service to reduce wait times, few self-service checkouts for those who only needed to pay for one item and improve the access to the forecourt with better signage and markings with the implementation of one in and one out (one way) system. Other than that, a good shop, friendly staff and very accessible.

Firstly i will say its very rare that i would post a review of a petrol station / Spar shop but this is like no other. Currently visiting the area which we do a few times a year and called in for petrol. I was amazed at the size of the store and what it had to offer, enough to park up and go and shop. Unfortunately we had just bought pasties and pies from a local butchers but they didn't look as good as the ones in Spar and Spar was cheaper so I was gutted. However i did succumb to a Manchester Tart and some lemon and white chocolate cookies (plus other things).....wow, both great and the Manchester Tart is the best I have had. I therefore don't doubt the other items in the bakery will be as good so I will def be returning when next around. Last of all, the customer service was exceptional. I was served by a really friendly guy who i enjoyed chatting to and at the end he wished me a nice day and said it had been a pleasure to meet me ! Believe me, the pleasure was all mine, great service, great food and even the diesel was 6p cheaper than at home. Thank you Spar, 5 stars !
