The hotel is very well located in Sheffield town centre. The rooms are very nice. The bathrooms are unfortunately dated and not in the best condition. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Great customer service, very attentive and helpfull. The rooms are big, clean and well organized. They offer a spa, swimming pool and many other features. The hotel is very beautiful, its architecture and plant-instalations. The location is amazing, it’s next to a beautiful church and square with a water fountain and water sculptures. You can walk to all needed places : museums, theatre, shopping and restaurants. It’s has a winter garden , a terrace , it’s really amazing place to book. Definitely recommend.

We had read reviews online about this hotel and they seemed mixed. We were just staying one night as we were attending the 40th anniversary black ball event at the crucible, therefore it wasn't going to be a major disappointment if things weren't great. First of all. The location is perfect for the crucible and it's only ten minutes from the train station. On arrival I had booked early check-in as I knew we would be traveling a lot and having left our house at 3am, I knew we would need a rest. The reception staff were pleasant enough. However I was told our room wasn't ready yet and we needed to wait. Luckily, it was only a few minutes. We got the lift up to the 5th floor and we had a privilege room. The room definitely has a musty damp smell. I think it's because there isn't enough ventilation in the room. I don't mean the air conditioner or heating. I mean air vents. They have fairly modern windows but they're completely sealed, so you can't open them. Fair enough, but you need to have windows with built in air vents to compensate for this. In the morning the condensation just rolled off the windows onto the carpet. For some strange reason one side table was missing and a normal white bistro style table was there instead. Functional, but not a 4 star privilege room. Random oil radiator heaters were in the room, hinting that the hotel heating probably didn't work. The bathroom was fine. There was tea and coffee making stuff. The safe didn't work. After a quick nap we later wanted some food. So we tried the restaurant but we were told to go to the bar area for food. It was 5pm so maybe in between times. We both had the beef burger with fries. Not bad food but definitely not 4 star quality. We didn't even get cutlery or napkins. It was so uninspiring I never even took photos! The breakfast buffet was adequate and the freshly poached eggs were perfection. Overall it was a good stay but it wasn't 4 Stars. Nowhere near that. We've stayed in some b&B's that have been 100% better. It lacks the wow factor in both style and substance. Rooms are decorated very poorly, like somebody's dad did on his day off. It needs TLC. It probably was a super hotel in the 1990s but it's just above Travelodge now.

I have recently proposed to my girlfriend and now fiancée in this hotel! The view of the hotel is great - just overseeing Sheffield peace garden. Bed was comfortable. Huge shout out to Lisa in reception. She had been extremely helpful and helped me with a lot of planning and was very accommodative( let me see my room early and let me collect my key slightly earlier) Because of this very positive experience, I am considering staying in other mecure or All hotels in the future!
