I went to Helmsley Meadows as little weekend away with my nieces (part of one of their 30th birthday celebrations). The cottage is very homely and well equipped for a short weekend stay - the beds were very comfy! We all slept so well. We made full use of the hot tub too!Just a short wander into Helmsley so plenty on your doorstep. Would recommend this cottage
We had a wonderful stay at Crossing Cottage. The property has everything you could possibly need and more. It was well stocked with soaps, shampoo and conditioner, dishwasher tablets, coffee, and tea. We especially appreciated the selection of local treats waiting for us on arrival. The beds were super comfortable, and we woke up to picture perfect views each morning. The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout, just a quick five minute drive into Helmsley for some great restaurants. We would highly recommend!
We had a lovely relaxing time at the cottage. Everything was perfect and the hot tub was a real bonus. Karen and Darren were great hosts and on hand for anything we needed. Great location just outside Helmsley, would highly recommend staying here 😊

The highlight was definitely the hot tub — it was spotless, perfectly heated, and the ideal spot to unwind in the evenings while watching the sunset or stargazing. The cottage itself strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and rustic charm. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the living area was cozy with a lovely fireplace and big windows overlooking the countryside. The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy to cook meals and enjoy them on the patio. The location was peaceful and private, yet still close enough to local pubs, walks, and shops. The hosts were friendly, thoughtful, and quick to respond — they even left a few personal touches that made us feel really welcome. All in all, this was one of the most relaxing getaways we’ve ever had. We left feeling refreshed and already can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a romantic escape or a quiet retreat in nature!
Crossing Cottage is lovely and is a very well equipped clean cottage with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We stayed in December after coming to Helmsley for the Rievaulx Carole Concert and had a great two nights here and we hope to return in the future with better weather! We had a lovely Christmas Turkey meal at Beadlam Bistro just up the road from the cottage.
