An impressive neo-Gothic monument that commemorates an influential and well-liked local landowner and peer who died in 1867. His tenants, friends and relatives raised the money to have this memorial erected in Helmsley's busy market square. It's obviously a popular place for people to sit or meet up with friends. I was here on a Friday afternoon when the weekly market was taking place. Some nice fruit and veg, cheese, cashmere jumpers, women's clothing and gifts. There's also a lot of car parking around the square.
Interesting monument with plenty of parking all around.
This place is used as a meeting place for a lot of motorcyclists and people visiting the town. There is a bus stop next to it.
Nice place
A charming little square with a nice market on Friday mornings. (Cheese, plants, clothing, antiques, and curiosities.)
